Barcelona Rosé International Bubbles Awards. Rules of Entry.

Article 1 – Organiser & Data Controller

The BARCELONA ROSÉ International Bubbles Awards (hereinafter BRIBA) are organized by vadevi.cat – Comunicació Vinària, S.L – and are based at Passeig de Gràcia, 16 1º 3ª, with postal code 08007, in Barcelona. The official website of the event is https://vadevi.elmon.cat/barcelona-rose and the contact email: [email protected].

By entering the BRIBA, all entrants will be deemed to have consented to the transfer of their personal data to the data controller for the purposes of the administration of the BRIBA and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.

Article 2 – Objectives

The BRIBA’s main objectives are:

  • Promote and enhance rosé sparkling wines, as quality sparkling wines, encourage their knowledge, dissemination and stimulate their responsible consumption.
  • Offer the marketing and production companies of this type of wine the opportunity to be evaluated by a panel of professional tasters of recognized prestige.
Article 3 – Object

The BRIBA are exclusively open to rosé sparkling wines from any production area in

the world, provided they have been prepared using the following methods:

  • Traditional method or Champenoise method
  • Charmat method or Granvas method
  • Ancestral method

The admitted capacities are 75 cl. or 150 cl.

  • Article 3.1. Traditional method or Champenoise method

Sparkling wine from qualified wines that have had a second natural fermentation

in the bottle from the addition of sugars and yeasts.

  • Article 3.2. Charmat method or Granvas method

Sparkling wine from qualified wines that have had a second natural fermentation

in large tanks from the addition of sugars and yeasts. Made the second

fermentation in the large tanks is bottled.

  • Article 3.3. Ancestral method

Sparkling wine that in the process of production only fermented sugars from the

grapes themselves and in no case exogenous sugar is added to the grape that

has been used for the elaboration of the base wine.

Article 4 – Participants 

All rosé sparkling wine makers from all over the world who are registered under any accepted business formula and have the legal and sanitary guarantees required in their country of origin can participate.

Article 5 – Admission conditions and registration method

The rosé sparkling wines presented must be bottled and available in the market or with the formal commitment that they are after the results of the awards are made public. Marketing labels must comply with the legal provisions and regulations that exist for this purpose in their countries of origin.

To register, you must access the BRIBA website, go to the registration section and fill in all the registration fields that are requested in the registration form.

Registration forms that are not accompanied by the corresponding proof of payment of registration fees will be discarded.

The company that registers the wines is fully responsible for the veracity of the data entered in the registration form.

Article 6 – Samples

To be eligible for competition, rosé sparkling wines must come from a homogeneous batch.

Three (3) bottles will be required per sample, regardless of their capacity. The bottles must bear the marketing label and comply with the legal requirements in their country of origin regarding the type of information they contain.

Article 7 – Cost of participation and payment method

Article 7.1 Cost of participation: 

  • Cost per sample: 30 € (36,30 € with VAT included)

Article 8.2 – Payment method

The only accepted form of payment is by credit card.

The payment of the registration must be done following the steps of the

inscriptions from the website of the BRIBA. The registration will be completed

once the payment has been made and the organization has received the receipt.

  • Bank expenses, if any, are borne by the participant.
  • For any reason, registration fees will be reimbursed in case of cancellation or registration error.
Article 8 – Shipment of samples

The samples of the registered sparkling wines must be sent to the site designated by the organization. The participant will choose the means that he / she thinks is the most appropriate to deliver the samples to the BRIBA organization, which will be sent freight prepaid and at the participant’s risk and expense. Any sample sent postage due, as well as samples that do not comply with these regulations, will be rejected. Once the samples have been received and correctly registered, they will become the property of the BRIBA.

Article 9 – Tasting and qualification of rosé sparkling wines

The BRIBA are organized under the principle of absolute anonymity of the samples and to respect this principle of total confidentiality, the members of the Tasting Jury will not be able to identify or have any prior knowledge of sparkling wine, its price, technical characteristics, scores or rewards obtained, except those provided by the organization in the tasting sheets.

The Tasting Jury will meet in a room specially adapted for the tasting of sparkling wines with all the necessary infrastructures, equipment and conditions to guarantee an optimal and impartial tasting of rosé sparkling wines.

Each rosé sparkling wine will be tested individually by the Tasting Jury, which in no case will be less than 5 members, following a tasting sheet that will facilitate the organization.

The appreciation of the wines is descriptive and includes scores on:

  • Visual appearance
  • Olfactory aspect
  • Impression in the mouth
  • General quality 

The organization will monitor and guarantee the correct operation of the BRIBA during the preparation of the samples, organization and realization of the tasting.

The development of the BRIBA will consist of a tasting session where all the rosé sparkling wines presented in each of the categories will be tasted and rated.

Article 10 – Tasting Jury

The Tasting Jury will be composed of renowned wine tasting professionals and

professional solvency and, in particular, with extensive knowledge and experience of

tasting rosé sparkling wines.

Article 11 – Classification of the rosé sparkling wines

The categories in which rosé sparkling wines are classified are:

  • Sparkling rosé wines made using the Traditional or Champenoise method
  • T1. Sparkling rosé wines aged for up to 15 months.
  • T2. Sparkling rosé wines aged for more than 15 months and less than 30 months.
  • T3. Sparkling rosé wines aged for more than 30 months.
  • Sparkling rosé wines made using the Charmat or Granvas method
  • C1. Sparkling rosé wines
  • Sparkling rosé wines made using the Ancestral method
  • A1. Sparkling rosé wines
Article 12 – Awards 

The reward scale adopted is a system that works by appreciation and that allows the classification of competing sparkling rosé wines based on their intrinsic qualities. The BRIBA distinguishes the following rewards for each of the categories:

  • Gold medal
  • Silver medal

Among all the rosé sparkling wines awarded with a gold medal in all categories, the Great Gold Medal for the Best Rosé Sparkling Wine will be chosen.

According to the OIV regulations, the number of rewards is limited to 30% of the total of the samples presented in the BRIBA. The awards will be awarded according to the appreciation of the Tasting Jury based on the high level of quality of the rosé sparkling wines presented, but if the jury deems it appropriate, one or more of the awards may be declared void. However, if the Tasting Jury deems it appropriate, two winners could be declared ex aequo of one or more of the awards.

The results will be communicated to the producers and the general public at an awards ceremony. Communications with the developers will be made through the email address and / or the telephone number provided in the award registration form.

The organization will put on sale the adhesive labels of the medals that will be exclusively available to the wineries with award-winning rosé sparkling wines. The unauthorized use and reproduction of the logo, distinctions or any other graphic element and identifier of the BRIBA is prohibited.

The results of the contest will be disseminated as widely as possible through the media (social networks, web, specialized and general press, etc.).

Article 13 – Overwhelming force and modification

In the event that a force majeure or event beyond the control of the organization prevents the proper development of the contest, the responsibility will not fall on the organization of the BRIBA.

The organization reserves the right to cancel the awards, to modify the initially scheduled dates, to shorten it, extend it or modify the conditions or development in the event of force majeure (epidemic, fire, flood, natural catastrophe, strike, terrorist act, etc.), of any unforeseen event beyond its control or of justified need.

In these cases, the organizing company cannot be held liable or ask for any compensation.

Article 14 – Controls

The BRIBA organization reserves the right to:

  • cancel any incomplete or erroneous registration and eliminate samples that do not comply with the regulations. Only the BRIBA organization will be competent to resolve eventual disputes.
  • carry out an analytical control, carried out by an authorized oenological analysis laboratory, of the award-winning samples, if deemed necessary.
Article 15 – Participation in the BRIBA

Participation in the BRIBA implies full acceptance of these regulations. Participation expenses will not be reimbursed in the event that the samples, registration documents and / or payment of expenses arrive after the contest registration deadline or if any of the points of these regulations have been breached.

Article 16 – Contact and incidents

Possible incidents that may arise in the development of the BRIBA and whose resolution is not included in these regulations would be resolved by the organization.
